JÖRGEN HAMBERG LEAVES FCR MMA

THANK YOU JÖRGEN FOR THE MEMORABLE MOMENTS WE HAVE HAD TOGETHER!

Jörgen Hamberg has been involved in the development of FCR MMA since the organisation held its first event in Västerås on September 10, 2017. Through his character and deep knowledge of MMA, he has played a key role in shaping both the organisation and Swedish MMA over the past years. A guiding principle Jörgen has always stood by is that fair and exciting matches represent true MMA. This remains a core value that FCR continues to uphold and always will. We thank Jörgen for all the hard work and the many memorable moments throughout the years, and we wish him all the very best in the future.

Why did you choose to leave the organisation?
– I have made the decision to step down and am doing everything in good faith with the other owners. Everything has its time. I’ve been part of developing Sweden’s leading MMA organization for seven years, but I have so many projects that there simply isn’t enough time. Developing the club, our project in Bäckby, and putting more time and love into that feels like the right thing right now. I’m confident that my teammates at FCR will continue to develop the organization, and I’ll of course remain close if I’m needed. The time had come for me to let the younger ones go full macaroni.

What will you spend your time on now?
– As mentioned, I’m a man with many ongoing projects. Spending a little less time in one place allows me to increase my presence and improve the quality of others. At 58 years old, I also need to start planning my grand retirement plan.

What are the most memorable moments in FCR?
– Wow—there have been so many intense and unforgettable moments over the years. Countless hours of thrilling, action-packed MMA with plenty of finishes. Some specific moments that stand out in particular include. The legendary Bane vs. Lampinen fight — like a slaughterhouse inside the cage. Bernardo Sopai’s perfect knockout of Julien Lopez. Hechter Sosa’s perfectly timed knee on Johnny Touma. There are so many memorable moments, and in truth, this is only the beginning.

Where do you see FCR in the next five years?
– As a stable, major platform leading to the UFC for all of Scandinavia. I would say that FCR has already come a long way toward that goal today, even if not all fighters fully realize it yet. In five years, that connection will be crystal clear and firmly established.

A message to all the followers and everyone who has met you at the events?
– You’re not really getting rid of me. I intend to continue making noise within Swedish MMA for a few more years and to be present where things truly kick off. The nice part now is that I can do it as an independent individual, which gives me a certain artistic freedom to speak and reflect freely.
