It i now official: a new Fight Club Rush bantamweight champion will emerge following FCR 13 as Bernardo "The Lion King" Sopai (8-2) and Karlén Minasian (5-1) will face off!
Late last month FCR officials announced that previous bantamweight champion Felipe Lima would be stripped of his title as he plans on having his next couple of fights at featherweight.
Now the new title contenders are booked and nothing other than pure excitement should be expected as these two bantamweights battle it out with gold on the line.
Minasian made his FCR-debut at the previous event as he took on three time Spanish MMA champion Hecher Sosa. The fight was a short affair as Minasian dispatched his highly touted opponent early in the first round with vicious strikes, securing a title shot.
Minasians victory at FCR 12 was his third win via first round T/KO and this cold and calculated Ukranian, who now calls Örebro Fight Gym home, looks to be ready for any challenge.
Meeting him in the cage is Allstars standout Sopai who has finished all but one of his wins - five in the very first round!
Sopai trains at Allstars training center alongside Khamzat Chimaev and many other top-tier talents. He has won two out of his three latest fights and is most recently coming off of a close split decision loss to Italian prospect Francesco Nuzzi.
While the outcome of the main event at FCR 13 can be discussed and debated for days, one thing is for certain: that a worthy bantamweight champion will emerge following an all-action bout between two of Scandinavias most promising bantamweights.
