Injures are common in MMA and unfortunately Spaniard Theo Bashford has injured his hand and been forced out of his planned bout with Baysangur Makaev (1-1) at Fight Club Rush 16 on June third. Now Grzegorz Szozda (3-3) has decided to step in on short notice to serve as a replacement!
Makaev has been a part of the incredibly successful Wolf Pack group at Allstars. He holds an earlier amateur win over Jakob Valegren before making the move to pro in October in 2021. Makaev faced Samuel Bark in his pro debut and was on the wrong end of a harsh knockout - a loss that has aged very well.
Since then Makaev has gone on to secure his first pro win after finishing Pawel Szumlas via first round TKO at FCR 14.
Szozda is an intense fighter who leaves it all inside the cage. Since his pro debut in September of 2018 the Pole has gone back and forth between wins and losses. All his wins have been secured in the very first round, while he has only been finished once in his entire career - both as a pro and an amateur.
Both Makaev and Szozda have only won via first round finish - a trend that may very well continue at FCR 16.
