Time and time again we see MMA battles between Sweden and Finland delivering fireworks inside the cage and nothing less than that is what's expected when Sweden's Enes "The Doctor" Kollari (1-1) faces Brayan Aspegren (3-0) of Finland! This is a re-booking of a fight that was supposed to happen at FCR 19 and which is now taking place at FCR 21 in Stockholm, September 7th.
Kollari is a striker at heart with quick, ruthless combinations on the feet and constant pressure heading his opponents direction. He made his promotional debut as an amateur at FCR 13 - defeating current amateur MMA world Champion Rafael Kveldstad via decision.
The Gothenburg native Kollari would then make his pro debut in October of 2023 against two-time Swedish MMA champ Danijel Grbic, losing a competitive decision in one of the best Swedish MMA fights of last year.
In his latest outing Kollari was set to face Aspegren, though the Finn had to pull out due to injury, being replaced by Abubakr Abdulhalakov. Kollari fought brilliantly and with a strong sense of confidence, getting the finish via second round submission.
Aspegren is a veteran of the Finnish National MMA team and amateur circuit. He made his pro debut in May of las year, finishing Davit Gujejiani via second round submission. Aspegren's FCR debut followed, as he faced Ebrima Faal at FCR 18. While Aspegren got the TKO win, it was somewhat marred by Faals shoulder dislocating during the fight.
There was no controversy whatsoever in Aspegren's latest bout, as he TKO'd former amateur MMA World Silver medalist Robin Enontekiö in the second round.
This Nordic derby was too good to not rebook and there's good reason for that: both Kollari and Aspegren throw with bad intentions and let the pressure pour on like a waterfall. Don't blink when these middleweights collide.
