Much like a classic album the hits just keep on coming in terms of fight announcements for Fight Club Rush 20. Amateur lightweights Randy "King" Fungula and William "Laser" Swärd are now set to do battle in what could produce the next big thing at amateur lightweight in Sweden.
FCR 20 takes place at ABB Nord Arena in Västerås on June first and will be the biggest event to date, certainly the must-see Swedish MMA event of the year.
While he may have been an under the radar talent before, Fungula has truly grown into his own and has reached a record amount of fans with his exciting fights and colourful, charismatic personality.
With an impressive list of wins over top-tier opposition like Alexander Lööf (twice), Daniyal Shamkhalov, Jaafer Mohammed and Elvin Hoxha (twice), Fungula deserves respect amongst the fans.
Making his promotional debut at FCR 17, Fungula went three tough rounds with top amateur lightweight Viktor Mangs, losing a close decision. Following that Fungula delivered a strong performance in his following bout with Icelander Hakon Arnorsson at FCR 19.
Hailing from the small Swedish city of Växjö Swärd is a B-class amateur champion and has built up a name for himself on the Southern Swedish MMA scene, currently undefeated since moving to A-class amateur MMA.
Between 2022 and 2023 Swärd lined up four straight wins via TKO in the second round - including a win over top prospect George Youssef - culminating in winning an amateur title. Since then Swärd has secured two straight wins over Swedish champion Benjamin Hajijan and Finnish champion Verneri Hakkinen.
The winner between Fungula vs Swärd will surely emerge as a must-see fighter, not far from the pro leagues.
