Over the years flyweight has grown from somewhat of a niche division to now having some of Northern Europe's most exciting fighters! At Fight Club Rush 22 this rings true as the first bouts announced for the event will feature reigning flyweight champion Rohullah Yousofi's (5-3) first title defense against Polish prospect Dawid Romanski (6-2) and Abdurakhman Nasrutdinov (3-1) faces Fadi Farag (1-1).
FCR 22 goes down at Västerås Arena, Saturday the 30th of November.
Yousofi has an extensive striking and boxing background and his perilous journey form Afghanistan to Sweden is the stuff of Hollywood scripts. Before arriving to Sweden he promised his father that he would become and MMA champion. Sadly, Yousofi's father passed away before that was realised.
After a rocky start to his MMA career Yousofi scored his first pro win by knocking out Qudrat Dargai in the first round and followed it up with FCR wins over Anton Larsson and Zoran Milic. Yousofi would challenge former FCR flyweight champ Jonny Touma for the title but lost a decision after three tough rounds.
Following an emphatic win over Renato Vidovic Yousofi would get his much sought after rematch with Touma at FCR 20 - winning vira third round knockout and giving MMA fans a feel-good-moment of a lifetime as he erupted into tears of joy as he was crowned, praising his father.
Romanski is a solid striker with experience in amateur MMA, boxing and kickboxing. Currently he stands with a 50% finishing rate, all by way of knockout, and holds wins in three out of his past four fights.
Nasrutdinov is one of, if not the, most explosive and acrobatic fighters in Sweden. Since his pro debut at FCR 8, where he finished Ashley Kilvington via knockout, Nasrutdinov has proven himself a dangerous opponent for anyone.
Despite that Nasrutdinov would lose his following fight via submission against Hama Dara, but he has since rattled off two straight knockout wins.
Farag is a fan favourite in his local area and has a philanthropic outlook on life and society as he tries to bring youths away from the streets and into training.
In February of this year Farag made his pro debut, submitting Ahmed Elnady in a thrilling fight. In his most recent outing, Farag was en route to scoring a finish over Safi Husseini, but sadly in a momentary lapse of judgement, he fired of a kick to a grounded opponent, resulting in a disqualification.
Without spoiling anything FCR 22 will feature a slew of exciting flyweight bouts, making the FCR flyweight division one of the hottest in Northern Europe.
