Northern star Theodor Berggren to face Italian finisher Leonardo Damiani, Bokofo rematches Jönsson

The co-main event for Fight Club Rush 23 is now set! Västerås will welcome a welterweight war between Sweden's Theodor "Simba" Berggren (6-2) and Leonardo Damiani (12-8) - Italian veteran of Ares FC and Cage Warriors.

On top of that, the preliminary card will see Judo ace Tome Bokofo take on returning grappler Linus Jönsson.

Berggren is a star pupil of beloved Swedish veteran Fernando Flores and has amassed a 4-1 record in FCR thus far.

Following two lightning quick finishes in FCR Berggren suffered his first pro defeat at FCR 12 against Christian Stigenberg. "Simba" then added two first round finishes in Battle of Botnia and he would continue his finishing streak in FCR, beating both Kristijan Toniste and then Moe Ahmadi.

In his most recent outing Berggren competed in Cage Warriors, losing via submission to Justin Burlinson in November of last year.

Damiani holds an impressive 75% finishing rate and has competed as a pro since November 2016. After amassing a six fight unbeaten streak Damiani was given a bout against AJ Fletcher in Dana White's Contender Series. The Italian ended up losing the fight but has continued to face top-tier competition against the likes of Laureano Staropoli and Abner Lloveras and is coming off of a close split decision against Daniel SKibinski.

Bokofo is the son of Judoka and MMA fighter Paul Amelia and is a skilled Swedish Judo champion in his own right. He defeated Jönsson via decision, a victory that catapulted him into the spotlight and to his FCR debut.

Taking on Oscar Lövgren at FCR 21, Bokofo looked sensational, picking up a dominant decision win following three rounds. After that Bokofo faced the incredibly well-credentialled Ratko Tomic at FCR 22. The step up in competition seemed to be too great for Bokofo, who suffered a decision defeat.

Jönsson is a skilled grappler fighting out of Gothenburg who has defeated the likes of Gustav Sandelin and Deldar Qaso. The Gothenburg native would then be booked to face Sebastien Keti at FCR 19 in a battle of skilled ground fighters. The two fought tooth and nail until the final bell, which saw Jönsson lose a split decision.

Despite that Jönsson will enter the bout with Bokofo hot off of a two fight winning streak, most recently defeating Rabuni Mbuta.

The fight card for FCR 23 continues to grow, and rest assured the hits will keep on coming.
